Maori gourd flute - named 'Stalk or River Mouth'. Grown and made by Elise Goodge. Made of gourd. (8cm long, 3cm wide) Nguru are uniquely curved flutes that were traditionally made from whales teeth and the curved necks of gourds. They have a particularly sweet sound and were played as musical accompaniment for songs and also at times of mourning and during funerals. This flute has no decoration.
